Record Depositories In London

Public Record Office

The National Archives in England contains many record collections relating to Ireland, especially for the period following the creation of the United Kingdom in 1800. A number are useful for family historians, notably records relating to the British Army and the Royal Air Force (both of which included many Irish-born men).

The records of the Royal Irish Constabulary include service and disbandment registers. More unusual collections include records relating to the 1916 rebellion and the internment of Irish prisoners in England between 1916 and 1919.
