Burren Display Centre, County Clare

A fine introduction to the flora and fauna of the Burren, this centre has displays showing the archaeology, history, local treasures and unique flowers of the district, together with a large-scale model of the Burren landscape. Next to the centre are the substantial ruins of a 12th-century cathedral. Also in County Clare, the Corofin Heritage Centre, in a converted church, has a small but comprehensive museum on life in 19th-century Clare. The nearby Dysert O'Dea castle has an archaeology centre, with local museum and audio visual presentation. The Burren is now a national park.

Burren display centre:
Kilknora, 11 km (7 miles) SE of Lisdoonvarna. Admission charge. Audio-visual presentation. Craft shop.

Corofin heritage centre: 15 km (8 miles) N of Ennis. Admission charge.

Dysert O'Dea castle: 3 km (2 miles) S of Corofin. Admission charge.
