Heartsease
Viola arvensis
Heartsease, or Field Pansy, is a small delicate annual. The flowers are a cream colour with a yellow and orange tinge. The leaves vary from oval to narrow.
It is an exquisite flower and appears, though infrequently, in ploughed land all over Ireland, but is not a serious weed.
The flowers start blooming in April and can continue until the autumn.
Heartsease is common throughout most of Europe, western Asia, North Africa and Madeira.
