Irish First Names

Bran (m) 'raven'
The name of a Celtic deity, known on both sides of the Irish Sea. His adventures are chronicled in the early Irish literary work The Voyage of Bran Son of Febal. In the Mabinogion, a collection of medieval Welsh tales, he appears as Bendigiedfran ('blest Bran'), a giant. Bran was also the name of a dog belonging to the legendary hero, Finn MacCool.
