Lax-flowered Sea Lavender
Limonium humile

Lax-flowered Sea Lavender is a small perennial. The flowers are lilac coloured, close together and grow in flat-topped clusters. The leaves are narrow and stalked. Stems form branches low down with flowers growing on them. In this the plant differs from the similar Common Sea Lavender (Limonium vulgare) as flowering branches of the latter form high up on the stem. In any case there is no Common Sea Lavender in Ireland. Lax-flowered Sea Lavender forms attractive clumps on salt marshes and on muddy shores round the east, south and west coasts of Ireland.
Flowering time is July to September.
Lax-flowered Sea Lavender is a northern plant. It grows on the north coast of Britain and on the European coast from Sweden and Norway to Brittany.

Other 'Late Summer' flowers include:
Chamomile | Common Mallow | Foxglove | Grass of Parnassus | Greater Spearwort | Harebell | Herb Bennet | Lesser Stitchwort | Meadow Cranesbill | Meadow Vetchling | Pink Butterwort
From the Appletree Press title:

Irish Wild Flowers - Deluxe Edition.
