Welsh Poppy
Meconopsis cambrica
Welsh Poppy is a medium-sized perennial. The flowers are large and an attractive mid-yellow colour. The leaves are deeply divided. The whole plant is slightly downy.
Welsh Poppy grows in wet rocky places and shady banks, and is uncommon except as a garden escape. There are cultivated double forms of this lovely plant in yellow and orange. The flowers bloom in June and July.
Welsh Poppy is native to Wales and to the west of England, also to western France, Portugal and northern Spain.
