Frequently Asked Questions

Why are cupboard doors left open, obscuring the view?
We regret that this sort of thing happens sometimes. We have no control over what goes on in the print shop. When people get things from the room they occasionally leave doors open and the like. However we should point out that we are often asked to close doors that are not open! On the right hand side of the room there are two cupboards, at right angles to each other. Some times visitors think that the back of the one further from the camera is actually the door of the one nearest to the camera. It is an easy mistake to make.

Why don’t you put the camera in a quiet place?
We originally had the camera in a very quiet area where there was little or no human activity. There were a lot of requests to move the camera to nearby location where there was more evidence of things going on.

Is the website office in the same building as the print shop.
No, however it is nearby. irelandseye.com is located in the Old Potato Station in Belfast. The building is a little older than the Mill, but has been modernised. The print shop is about ten minutes away on foot. We do not have ready access to the other building. We are unable to go round and close doors, place objects on tables or remove items at will.

Can you place the camera somewhere else?
We are not free agents in this matter. We are in essence guests of the print shop. Moving the camera does cause disruption to their work. However we, and they, are open to suggestion. We welcome ideas as to where we should locate it - though don’t expect immediate action!
