Frequently Asked Questions
I have clearly seen a man dressed in blue near the printing machine - is this possible?
The staff in the print shop wears blue overalls, and although the room is seldom used, someone may be seen near the press from time to time. In addition someone needs to check the webcam occasionally. These are not 'ghostly figures'.

Why don't we see more people on the webcam?
When this whole thing started it was approached as a light hearted short term experiment at the request of the printers. However such was the interest that we agreed with them that we would carry on the observations indefinitely. This has brought about a reversal of roles in that, to some degree, they are doing irelandseye.com a favour by allowing us to conduct this, rather than the other way around. They have placed a part of their works at our disposal. In effect the room has been 'preserved' for the purpose of the Internet observations, it is little used. For this we are very grateful to them.

Is the webcam in the place where the ghost is most likely to be seen?
This is difficult to answer. Because we are not in control of the situation there is some element of compromise. We have tried to place it where there has been evidence of happenings and at the same time work within the constraints placed upon us. The printing firm operates as an everyday commercial business. We cannot tell them what to do, we have to try to persuade. They get nothing out of this except some hassle. From time to time we disrupt their work by participating in television and radio interviews from the site. They used to get casual callers, and one particularly annoying one, until we removed the reference to the exact address. They have been remarkably tolerant and we do not wish to abuse that. We are especially grateful to their European sales director, Neuman Piltdown and the company accountant, Brigid Hannum for their patience and forbearance. Mrs Hannum has been associated with the firm for many years, indeed she met her late husband there. She has provided us with a considerable amount of background information on the story of Helena and gone to great lengths to facilitate us in our work.

Have you changed anything about the camera?
We have been able to make improvements to the webcam. We have improved the resolution and the clarity of the picture. The refresh rate is better. This feature on our site has proven to be very popular. We are aware that the original view was not very interesting. There were several locations within the building which could lay claim to being 'the most likely' spot. They all present problems of one sort or another. For example, there are no electrical outlets on the stairwell and the lighting is poor. Nevertheless we hope we have arrived at a solution to the location problem. We have placed the camera in a room adjacent to the disused print area. (The original location can be glimpsed down a short passageway to the right of the white shelves.) The room housing the camera is used mainly for storage. However from time to time it is used for some assembly work, and print workers may be seen there occasionally.
